This is an important milestone in the development of personalised point-to-point transport in Hong Kong and will help provide residents and visitors with safer and more diverse mobility options. In accordance with the Transport Department's invitation requirements, Uber has completed and submitted the relevant application form and required documents.

Uber has long been committed to providing Hong Kong residents with safe and reliable trip experience, and has built deep partnerships with the local taxi industry. Drawing on its global operational experience and local track record, Uber will work closely with the Government to implement the regulatory requirements.

Estyn Chung, GM of Uber Taiwan, HK and Macau said "We fully support the Government in establishing a clear and formal regime. Uber will continue to work closely with the authorities throughout the application process. We look forward to delivering a convenient and reliable experience to Hong Kong within the new regulatory framework. At the same time, we have expanded our dedicated support team to provide training and examination preparation assistance, helping driver-partners transition smoothly into the new regulatory environment."

About Uber

Uber's mission is to create opportunity through movement. We started in 2010 to solve a simple problem: how do you get access to a ride at the touch of a button? More than 79 billion trips later, we're building products to get people closer to where they want to be. By changing how people, food, and things move through cities, Uber is a platform that opens up the world to new possibilities.
