Mindray Ultrasound Launches Multicenter Research for SEA Regions
BALI, Indonesia, Nov. 11, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Themed "Building Bridges, Connecting Visions", Mindray successfully held the 2022 SEA & SA Mindray Ultrasound Forum in Bali, Indonesia. More than 150 participants from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand joined the academic forum where experts exchange clinical expertise and share insights on industry-leading technologies.
At the opening ceremony of the forum, Mindray officially launched the multicenter research program on "Combined Abdominal and Pelvic Ultrasound", led by two Principal Investigator (PI) institutes: HUGI (Indonesian Urogynecology Association) and The Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from China. Leading experts from seven participating hospitals in Indonesia: RS YPK Mandiri Hospital, RSUPN Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, RSUP Dr. Sardjito Hospital, RSUP Hasan Sadikin Hospital, RSUP Prof. Ngoerah Denpasar Hospital, RSUD Dr. Soetomo Hospital, RSUP Dr. Kariadi Hospital, also celebrated the milestone moment with all guests.
Prof. Dr. dr. Budi Iman Santoso, Chairman of HUGI said "The study about Prevalence of Pelvic Floor Disorders (PFD) in Tertiary Care Center in Indonesia indicates that, the prevalence of patients with PFD was 33%. The prevalence of Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP), Urinary Incontinence (UI), and Fecal Incontinence (FI) were 26.4%, 15.3% and 2.5% respectively. It should be noted that there are still limited studies on PFD in Southeast Asian Women and a difference in the management of PFD among SEA countries. The diverse and complex situation happening in different parts of the region poses another challenge when implementing guidelines developed in the western world. Therefore, we need solid collaborated commitment to make specific guidelines to apply in the SEA region."
Speaking of the details of the multicenter research project, Prof. ZHANG Xinling said "This project will be performed by ultrasound in multiple aspects. First, we would like to explore the feasibility of an antepartum ultrasound examination to predict the delivery mode. Second, to judge the progress of labor by antepartum ultrasound. Third, to analyze the correlation between antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum PPUS and Female Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (FPFD). This project will establish a protocol to predict delivery mode and help monitor the stages of labor. Moreover, it can detect structural abnormalities of periodic flow before occurrence of clinical symptoms postpartum. I believe it will make progress for the management of FPFD that impacts on women's lives."
Following the multicenter research launch, 8 speakers from Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and China shared their valuable clinical experience in the field of OBGYN and Radiology application, highlighting Mindray's innovative technologies such as Smart Pelvic, Smart Planes CNS, V Flow, Sound Touch Elastography, uHIT, complete with live demonstration.
In the OBGYN session, several topics are being discussed. First, Dr. Fernandi Moegni presented the topic "Early detection of pelvic floor muscle weakness with Smart Pelvic Ultrasound Imaging in late pregnancy and after childbirth" followed by Dr. dr. Efendi Lukas who talked about "Ultrasound examination for detection of CNS abnormality". Then, Dr. Andi Darma Putra elaborated further on the "Ultrasound Features and Diagnostic Workup of Uterine Leiomyosarcoma" before Dr. Berly B. Balita closed the session with a discussion on "Basic of Fetal Echocardiogram".
In the Radiology session, Dr. I Made Dwijaputra Ayusta spoke about "V flow: An Innovative Vascular Ultrasound", followed by Dr. Chinnarat Bua-Ngam closely on "Practical Points in Thyroid US". Dr. Xie Xiaoyan further shared about the development and clinical application of interventional ultrasound in China and then Dr.Duangkamon Prapruttam shared her experience in Liver Elastography.
