Management positions in business are many and varied. For those qualified and experienced enough to hold these positions​​, the remuneration is often generously matched the skills and knowledge the job requires.

Completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) can open doors to many highly regarded positions in business and management. The career opportunities are varied and many people with these qualifications make significant moves within the business world and hold several different positions, often working their way up from Office Manager to the illustrious CEO position.

While the benefits of these positions are valuable, the salary is something to be considered with any position. This article will give you a brief overview of the different roles in business and their average business administration salary in Australia

Office Manager

An office manager is the person who oversees the day-to-day operations of an office. While it is on the lower end of the management ladder it requires the skills to be able to manage people and delegate tasks. This is a great starting position for those who are just beginning their career journey in business administration.

Business Manager

A step above the office manager is the business manager. Their roles include the running of the business overall and overseeing the operations to ensure the business is operating as efficiently and effectively as possible. This role also includes more input on the overall strategy of the business and is a great step up the ladder for those ambitious workers in the business world.

Business Consultant

A business consultant often works external to a business’s operations. This position allows the consultant to offer impartial advice with an overall view of the business. A consultant may work with several different businesses in different industries. This position is particularly appealing to those who enjoy working for themselves and have a passion for business.

Business Analyst

An analyst works within a business to work on ensuring the process and procedures of the business are working effectively. They work to develop and implement the strategy to ensure the business is growing and developing in line with its goals and mission. This position is great for someone interested in digging deep into the inner workings of a business.

Data Analyst

A data analyst is another often external role that provides information for a business on both its operations and external factors that can impact a business. A data analyst works with data and information and gives informed advice on ways in which the business can optimise its operations. This role is particularly attractive to those who value data and information and enjoy using these to inform decisions.

COO

Also referred to as the Director of Operations, the Chief Operations Officer is responsible for overseeing the strategic operations of the business. This includes ensuring the smooth running of the business and the connections between departments and staff. This role is appealing to someone who is organised and enjoys liaising with different roles.

CFO

A CFO, or Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for the financial performance and management of a business. They work within the C-suite with the COO and CEO to develop the strategy of the business as a whole, with a particular focus on its financial performance. A money-focused person who enjoys developing strategy is great here.

CEO

For an ambitious person working in business, Chief Executive Office is the top of the tree. The CEO is the highest position for an individual in a business and is responsible for the overall running of the business and its departments. While these positions can be hard to attain the remuneration is valuable.
